Kids' Club

Common Family Concerns

Each day when school is let out in McKean County, over 7,000 school age kids1 and their parents are left to fill that time space between school and when most parents get off of work. Some fill it with sports and clubs.  Others are able to go to a friend or families house. Some, though, are not able to find activities or people to fill this gap.  In fact, if county rates are similar to the PA rates,  26% of school age children whose parents work are responsible for taking care of themselves after school.2

The Family Centers Are Here To Help

The McKean County Family Centers realize the need for positive after school activities and are doing their part through Kids Club to fill the gaps.

At each of the five Family Centers, Kids Club' is provided after school once a week for kindergarten through third graders. Two Family Center staff oversee the students from the time they arrive until they are picked up by their parents in order to ensure that enough supervision is provided.

Kids' Club lasts one hour. The kids interact with others in safe, supervised activities that include snack time, a craft and a chance for free play.

The McKean County Family Centers does its part in filling the after school time gap by offering Kids Club to the community.
