Parents As Teachers

Parents As Teacher Overview

Parents As Teachers (PAT for short) is for parents with children ages birth to five. The program involves home visits led by trained Family Developmental Specialists. These one hour, twice a month visits focus on sharing age-appropriate child development and parenting information. A typical visit usually includes an age-specific activity for the child, allowing for parent-child interaction. Linked to the activity, a handout is given to parents explaining why the activity is important in their child’s development.

Other important elements of PAT include child screenings and parent-child playgroups; both programs of the Centers.
