Success Stories

Story 1

*Sara is a mother of three children who are all home schooled. Because she is isolated from typical educational supports, Sara values the information about child rearing and child development that her Family Development Specialist from the Bradford Family Center brings to her home.

Through Parents As Teachers home visits, Sara learns new ways of stimulating child development, good parenting practices, and ways to handle child discipline. Sara’s Family Development Specialist also conducts early childhood developmental screenings every six months on all of her young children to make sure they are obtaining all developmental milestones.

During one of the screenings, Sara discovered that her middle child has speech delays. The child was then referred by the Family Center to speech therapy through Early Intervention Services. After several months of therapy the child is showing amazing developmental gains.
