Success Stories

Story 2

*Jenny started the Parents As Teachers Program (PAT) at the Bradford Family Center five years ago when she was a teen mom. At that time she was living in a trailer in a remote area outside of Bradford, received public assistance to help her just get by, and was very isolated from services and her extended family.

Through the years the Bradford Family Center helped Jenny receive various supports her family needed—like speech and physical therapy for her child, and behavioral health services when her child displayed emotional difficulties. In addition to the PAT program, Jenny attended the Incredible Years Workshop at the Family Center and learned ways that she could deal with an active child.

Today Jenny is living and working in Bradford while her child attends kindergarten. Jenny is well connected to services and extended family now that she lives in town. Reflecting back, she credits her involvement with the Family Center for getting through the challenging early childhood years of parenting.
